Grated ginger – 1/2 tsp

Method :

  1. Heat water in a pan and let it boil. Add grated amla, ginger and fennel.
  2. Let it boil for 10 minutes on low heat. After 10 minutes switch off the flame and add jaggery.o
  3. Cover it for 1 minute and then filter tea. Enjoy

Cinnamon Spiced Apple Tea

Like Indians, people of Turkey love drinking tea at all times of the day. The lower kettle is used for boiling the water and the upper one is used for making concentrated tea. Ingredients :

Finely chopped apple – 1 (with skin)

Cloves – 3

Water – 2 cups

Honey or jaggery powder for sweetness – 1 tbsp (optional)

Method :

  1. Combine water, chopped apple, cinnamon stick and cloves in a medium saucepan. Bring mixture to a simmer; reduce heat, cover and simmer 10 minutes.
  2. Turn off heat, sieve and stir in honey or jaggery or sweetener of choice to taste.
  3. Serve in mugs with a few thinly sliced apples in each and a cinnamon stick to stir.

Summer calls for quenching one’s thirst and drinking beverages which are soothing, colourful, flavourful, tempting as well as tasty, giving a fresh lease of life in the scorching heat. Bael juice is one such refreshing drink and also one of the oldest traditional drinks in India, which has Ayurvedic importance.

Bael Sharbat

Indian bael, originally known as Aegle Marmelos, is a wonderful summer drink that cools us down, rejuvenates, cleanses, and nourishes the body with all the nutrients. This juice is commonly consumed after breaking fasts like on Maha Shivratri. It is easy to digest and is an excellent summer coolant.

Wood Apple is also known as Bael Fruit. Bael fruit has other names like wood apple, elephant apple, and monkey fruit. Wood apple is an immune booster and fights against bacterial and viral infections caused by them. It is a great reliever for respiratory problems too. Wood Apple contains tannins, phosphorous, fiber, calcium, nutrients, vitamins, organic compounds, protein, and iron.

Bael Sharbat (Wood Apple Cooler ) – Summer Drink

Ingredients :
Wood Apple – 1 medium
Powdered sugar or powdered jaggery – 2 tbsp ( optional )
Black salt – 1/2 tsp
Roasted cumin seeds powder – 1/2 tsp
Cold water – 2 cups
Juice of two lemons
Salt to taste

Bael Sharbat

Method :

  1. Break open the fruit and using a spoon scoop the pulp and place in a large bowl. Put 1 cup of water and keep it aside for 30 minutes.
  2. After 30 minutes using your palms gather. Squish the pulp to separate the seeds and juice the pulp.
  3. Press the juice through a sieve to strain the fibers and seeds from the thick pulp.
  4. Scoop the pulp remaining in the sieve into a vessel and add more water ( 1/4 cup each time). Repeat it and strain till all that remains is the fiber.
  5. Add powdered sugar, black salt, roasted cumin powder, lemon juice to the strained juice and run in a blender with two cups of water.
  6. Serve chilled.

My morning is incomplete without adrak elaichi wali chai and the aroma of elaichi (green cardamom) and flavor of ginger. The aroma, flavor and taste of ginger is something I extremely fond of in my tea. Ginger also has a lot of health benefits.

Indian Chai

In India, the term “Chai” means tea. Since most Indians drink tea boiled with milk and sugar the word has become synonymous with milk tea. There are several variations and the names usually indicate the condiment used with the tea. But two important ingredients are – ginger (adrak) and green cardamom (elaichi).

Main Ingredients

A “Masala Chai” is a chai tea with milk and a hint of spices – cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon mostly. Saunf wali chai is the same milk tea flavored with fennel seeds. The main difference between chai and masala tea is the addition of spices. Chai is black tea and hot milk, while Masala tea will combine black tea, milk and a few spices. Everyone has a preference when it comes to chai. Some prefer more milk or no milk, some prefer a strong, some prefer with sugar or without sugar or with gur (jaggery ). Being a Pahadi, Chai is like a drug to us – whatever the time maybe we are always ready for having a good cup of tea because “One cuppa chai is all we need”.

But one nice thing about making chai is, that while brewing it in a pot, the aroma of spices will fill the air and make you anticipate the delicious drink soon to be enjoyed. I can sip chai throughout the day. I prefer chai with food, or as a dessert with tea time cake or dried fruits in short with anything :).

It is really a tasty and fulfilling drink when you enjoy with your family and friends. “Friendship and tea… Millions of bits & a lot of hot water make a good, strong brew.

I have amazing my Chai partners and strangely I find myself sharing my innermost secrets with them over a cup of chai. Sometimes, I feel there is some sort of mental connection that chai lovers share between them.

Adrak Elaichi Chai | Ginger Cardamom Tea | My Favorite Beverage

Start your day on the right track by using this recipe to make a cup of Adrak Elaichi ki chai. Chai is served hot and warms your body up especially during monsoons and cold winters. This tea helps clears up your sinus and is a great drink to have when you have sore throat or a cold. It is also good for digestion. 

Ingredients :
For 2 Cups 
Water – 1 & 1/2 cups
Milk – 3/4 cup
Tea powder – 1 tsp
Grated ginger – 1 inch
Crushed Black pepper – 2
Green cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
White or brown sugar – 2 tsp

Ginger Cardamom Tea

Method :

  1. Heat water in a saucepan and allow it to boil.
  2. Add tea powder, crushed black pepper with ginger. Boil it for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Now add milk and simmer for 8 minutes. Add sugar and green cardamom powder.
  4. Again simmer for 3 minutes. Then switch off the flame.
  5. Filter prepared chai into cups and serve with biscuits.

Tips : Adjust sugar according to your taste.

They are a great way to get kids to drink a cool drink packed with fruit, vegetables, vitamins, and calcium all depending on what you mix in them.

Strawberry Apple Milkshake

The great thing about milkshake is, you can be creative and can add your favorite fruit. One of my son’s favorite fruit is Strawberry. Strawberries have one of the lowest sugar contents of any fruit and are full of vitamin C and vitamin K. They also contain significant amounts of phytonutrients and flavonoids both of which are responsible for that beautiful bright red color.

No Sugar Milkshake

I used frozen strawberries in this recipe because they add an ice cream element to the shake. As well as the milk, to add calcium, red apple for sweetness. When it comes to milkshakes, the fruit is typically what makes them sweet and delicious. However, when you combine several types of fruits into a single drink, the natural sugar content can start to add up quickly.

Recently I shared a tip – How to Store Turmeric Roots (Kachi Haldi or Kurkuma) ? My Maa always make haldi wala doodh with kachi haldi. She make haldi doodh with fennel seeds (sauf). Fennel seeds are known to aid in digestion processes, treats bloating and cramps in stomach. But you can also add a cinnamon stick, fresh ginger, and cardamom for extra flavor.

Summer Drink

Raw mango – 2 medium size
Sugar – 1/2 cup
Mint leaves – 14
Cold water – 4 cups

Spices –
Roasted cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
Black salt – 1 tsp
Soaked fennel seeds – 1 tbsp
Black pepper powder – 1/4 tsp
Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp

Refreshing Mango Drink


  1. Chopped raw green mango into large chunks (with skin) and put into a deep saucepan along with sugar, all spices, and 1 & 1/2 cups of water.
  2. Boil the mangoes for 20 – 25 minutes on low flame till they become soft inside, and the skin gets discolored.
  3. Allow it cool down completely and remove the pulp from the skin with the help of a spoon.
  4. Now add the pulp with mint leaves, in a grinder and make a smooth paste.
  5. Add water (2 & 1/2 cups) and again grind it with grounded boiled raw mango paste.
  6. Raw mango summer drink is ready. Pour into glass with ice cubes.
  7. Garnish with mint leaves and serve chilled.

  1. Slice orange and lemon (discard seeds). Place them into individual glasses.
  2. Now add mint leaves with black salt, red chilli powder,roasted cumin powder in a mortar- pestle. Muddle the leaves and citrus by pressing them with a pestle until juicy and fragrant. Now mix this with fresh orange juice.
  3. Mix with a spoon and pour spiced juice into a glass.
  4. Garnish with spicy orange slice and Enjoy !!!!
