This recipe makes a thick, chunky soft jam that easily spread over pancakes or ice cream or on toasted bread. It is so simple and is a great way to use up a few pounds of strawberries.

Ingredients:
Fresh strawberry – 400 gms (3 cups of chopped strawberry)
Sugar – 3/4 cup
Juice of half lemon

Homemade Strawberry Jam

Method:

  1. Wash and chop strawberry into small pieces. In a heavy bottom, pan add chopped strawberry and sugar.
  2. Cook covered for 10 minutes on low heat.
  3. After 10 minutes cook jam starts to thickens.
  4. Add lemon juice and mix it well and cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Allow jam to cool down completely.
  6. Store Strawberry Jam in a clean and dry glass jar.

  • Lift jam with a spatula and pour jam, it should flow together and not in drops.
  • Pour a few drops of prepared jam on a plate if it spreads then it’s not ready if it stays firm without moving then the jam is ready.

  • Keep jam in the refrigerator after every use. Use a clean and dry spoon. It last long for 3 months.

Raspberry Jam | Homemade Jam Recipe | No Pectin Jam

This easy and delicious raspberry jam recipe has an intense flavor that requires no pectin. Store bought jams are made with the addition of pectin for thickening, but this jam can be made with just fresh fruit, sugar and lemon juice. Instead of store brought pectin, I used natural pectin. Pectin is a naturally occurring substance found in berries, apples and other fruit. When heated together with sugar, it causes a thickening that is characteristic of jams and jellies.

Fruit Jam

Apples are an excellent source of pectin. Apples contain a particularly high amount of pectin which helps jam to set. Pectin is available in the skin and pulp of fresh apples. Granny Smiths (Green apples) have more pectin than red apple.

Fresh Raspberry

Ingredients:
Raspberry – 250 gms
Granny Smiths Apple – 1
Sugar – 1/2 cup
Juice of one lemon

Homemade Jam

Method:

  1. Cut apple into small pieces (with skin) and put pieces into a blender. Make a smooth puree.
  2. Transfer apple puree in a non-stick deep pan and cook it for 5 minutes on low medium flame stirring continuously.
  3. Now add raspberry with sugar in a saucepan. Let it boiled over medium heat until thick.
  4. Once jam starts to thickens switch off the flame and add lemon juice. Mix it well and cook for a minute.
  5. Allow jam to cool down completely. Then store in sterilized glass jar.
  6. Enjoy jam with hot parathas or with vanilla ice cream..

Kiwi – 8 ( when boiled and mashed yields 3 cups )
Sugar – 1 & 1/2 cups
Juice of One Lemon

Method :

  1. Scooped out the kiwi pulp and cut into cubes.
  2. Put kiwi cubes into a deep saucepan and boil for 10 minutes on the low medium flame with 1/2 cup of water.
  3. After 10 minutes switch off the flame and let it cool completely before grinding.
  4. Now grind boiled kiwi pulp in the food processor (with dough chopper ).
  5. Put ground kiwi and sugar in a saucepan. Let it boiled over medium heat until thick.
  6. Once jam starts to thickens switch off the flame. Add lemon juice and mix well for a minute.

Pineapple Jam

Homemade Pineapple Chunky Jam – No Preservatives

Ingredients:
Pineapple  – 1 medium
Water – 1/4 cup
Sugar – 3/4 cup
Juice of one lemon

Method:

  1. Peel and cut pineapple into cubes.
  2. Cut half the pineapple into cubes and add into a grinder. Grind it until smooth. Grate the remaining half of the pineapple. It yields 2 cups of puree and 1 cup of grated pineapple.
  3. Put both puree and grated pineapple in a deep saucepan with 1/4 cup of water. Cook over medium-low heat for 10 minutes until pineapple is soft.
  4. Now add sugar and cook on low flame for 15- 20 minutes until the mixture has thickened.
  5. Once jam starts to thickens switch off the flame and then mix lemon juice.
